I haven't done much trolling with cranks for Crappie at Taylorsville, but have done pretty good (at times) Pushing jigs. When I did troll cranks it was for Hybrids, and I had a jig on a 18" leader line that was tied to the front hook eye of a Hot-n-Tot. Mostly caught Hybrids on the jig, not the crank, but buddies of mine did catch a few Crappie trolling Wee R's & Flat R's in the "brown crawfish" color.
Now, this was a couple few years ago (15+) .... and we fished the straight stretch of the horseshoe bend. That would be "after" you go around the horseshoe bend, if you're coming from Chowning.
I've also heard of people trolling Shadraps for Crappie around the Chowning area & doing pretty good. Again, that's from many, many years ago ... but the reports were from reputable sources.
Sorry I'm not much help, but that's all I know about it.
