    Default Not a crappie, but.......

Check out this Ky Lake redear from yesterday. My move back to Western KY is really paying off. I've had a tremendous Spring catching Shellcrackers like this. I've literally caught dozens of these hearty fish. Finding them about 18 inches to 2 ft deep in grass and weedbeds. My only bait is a black Grizzly jig tipped with a Berkley Power Wiggler fished under a Thill slipfloat. My rod of choice is a 10ft BnM jig pole which allows for casting or pitching into the grass and weeds.I've also caught a ton of big bluegill, but they have been just a little deeper than the Shellies. Usually when I find the gills, I go a little shallower and find the crackersName: 20210605_160245.jpg

I have moved to the north end of the lake near Moors resort. I put in at Buckhorn ramp. Caught a few nice ones myself but striking out on the gills mostly. Here is one I caught the other day. Hope to see you out there! Good fishing!Name: IMG_20210427_092959668_HDR.jpg
