I caught this fish today on jonathon creek. I’ve never saw anything like this on the fishes fins. Any idea what it is?

I sent a message to Adam Martin, fisheries biologist for KY F&W, to respond.
I haven’t seen that and I’ve seen hundreds of crappie from the Jonathan Creek area.
I’m tempted to say either a fungus or some sort of parasite. Crappie seem prone to parasites.

Looks like lymphocystis but it’s hard to say for sure. Could also be glochidia from a mussel which the fish has treated like a cyst. In either case the filets are still safe to eat as long as they are properly cooked.

Is johnathon creek anywhere close to nuclear plant
I actually caught two or three fish over on Barkley last weekend that looked just like that
I've seen something similar on fish up this way, but it's usually when the water temps are real high for a period of time.
