    Default Jonathan creek expectations

Headed down to Jonathan creek on 4/14 was wondering what to expect as to water temp, level, and color.
Is the bite hot or cold?
    any info would be appreciated.

Not my area of expertise, but I did see a post on FB from Wiskers (a guide down there) and he was catching nice fish trolling cranks.

We fished Friday and Saturday shallow, deep, and in between, minnows and jigs. Caught 3 crappie and only one measured. Only 3 trailers in Johnathan parking lot. Not many people fishing and from the conversations we had with a couple of boats, no one was having any luck. Water temp was 65. Water was dingy but not muddy. Wind on Saturday made for rough water as we came off lake.

Well if you don't find the crappie, the bass sure are hitting good!

Weather has been the biggest factor - Wed of last week at noon I counted 12 boats by the 68 bridge in Jonathan Creek fishing along the edge of the channel.

I had planned on trying to fish Jonathan Creek on Saturday but it was just too darn windy....same went for Sunday. I instead fished Saturday in Poplar Creek on Barkley trying to hide out of the wind, I was 1 of 3 boats at that ramp so I guess most just stayed home rather than fight the wind. I couldn't fish for crappie as the wind was just too strong so I flipped small plastics for bass and caught a few right up on the bank. Tons of bluegill up shallow, they were wearing me out on the plastics I was flipping for bass. Mouth of the bay had a water temp of 63, and it was 66 up in the pockets....I would expect about the same in other areas of the lake. Lake level is just a hair below 358 and looking to stay there for a few days.

It will be a bit cooler after today with the wind being out of the north for the rest of the week. The water temps might drop a bit if we get a few of the showers they are predicting for tomorrow.

Good luck! Hopefully you catch a few!
Thanks Crappie Pro Wannabe thanked you for this post

Would appear those fish were still full of eggs. Have the crappie not spawned yet?

Not the ones I’m catching. Some blacks may be spawning but I have not seen a spawned out crappie yet.
