    Default Fishing this week

Things a little slow this week with all the ice and snow, so looks like we can get a little bit of fishing in about mid week. Who’s goin ? I’m thinking taylorsville or green. Maybe some of you guys have clients booked for this week and you could give us some updates on fish caught or not. I’m looking forward to getting out of this weather rut and swinging some crappie.

Might take a little longer than the next few days to get the ice sheets melted off Green, and probably T-ville too.

Tim (t.slabseeker) posted a couple of short video clips on Facebook the other day, showing Green iced over solid at the bridge area & quite a bit around the Holmes Bend Marina area.

Pics I have seen of T-ville are mostly ice. Need a few warm days before it opens back up imo. I just upgraded from a fishing kayak to a Seaark last month and between work and weather haven’t had a chance to get it out yet. Chomping at the bit

I don’t think I’ve is too thick. A little rain and a few warm days might do it. My job in winter is plowing snow and ice and after 2 weeks of over 80 hrs plowing and salting I’m going fishing. Might have to leave the boat tethered to the trailer but you know how much it means just to get away from the normal stuff and crappie fishin is the only way to go.

Got to be super careful after a freeze then thaw. Lots of big sheets of ice out there floating but wave action will put a layer of water over them. They can be almost invisible.

Several years ago I was running 50mph in a Skeeter bass boat on Ky. The lake had been locked with ice and I just had to get out. I saw a raft of ducks and decided I’d run thru the middle of them. Huge mistake. That raft of ducks ended up being a couple of dozen decoys locked in a big sheet of ice with water over it. A glass boat at 50mph hitting 3/4 inch thick ice makes an interesting sound. Does wonders for gel coat also.

Have never owned a glass boat but I have skinned my share of metal from ice. Including a couple lower units. Didn’t get down your way last year because of all that COVID crap so this year starts over. Had a 45 year run of at least a week every March. Ky lake is a special place no matter how many fish you catch.

Looks like the rain & warmer temps are starting to have an effect. Even so, as evident in this pic, the ice isn't completely gone ... yet !!
