Braided line...using leader or not?

My preferred methods of crappie fishing are vertical jigging and casting jigs/road runners, etc I have always used 6-8# mono when vertical jigging and 4-6# mono when casting. This year I plan to change to braided line (10/2 or 15/4). For those of you that use braid, my questions are:

Do you use a leader? If yes, mono or floro? If no, do you tie braid directly to jig or use some type of snap?

I run probably 50/50 on a fluorocarbon leader vs tying braid to the jig. In clear water it is amazing to watch the transition from flouro to braid. I honestly don’t know that the leader makes a difference to the fish though.

When casting I've used braid straight to the bait ... when Pushing I use a 6# mono leader, whether it's braid or heavy mono main lines. My Pushing setups use duo-loc snaps on the main lines & on the end of the trolling sinkers. My casting setup isn't used much, anymore, but when I did use it I had PowerPro 10/2 hi-vis braid attached to the jig with a Improved Clinch knot. When the braid was fresh out of the package, I left a long tag & tied a double overhand knot in the tag close to the Improved Clinch knot & trimmed off the excess tag line. Then when I pulled on the line to cinch the knot tight, and it slipped, the double overhand knot would stop any further slippage. Once the line had been used awhile & the coating was gone, the Improved Clinch knot worked fine without the added knot in the tag.

I only use braid panfishing for perch in extremely deep water on Lake Erie. 10/2 fireline with a four foot leader of six pound clear mono. I don’t care to use braid for inland crappie fishing as it tends to destroy my shallow Brushpiles.

I fish braid 100% of the time.
My home lake is really clear, and deep.
Started using the braid for hooksets at 40’, never looked back.
I do use a fluorocarbon leader maybe 10% of the time, 12-24” long.

I don’t run braid on client tackle because of the chance of line cuts. My Livescope rods have Berkley crystal braid straight to the hook. I think it helps me see my jig and is almost invisible in the water.

I run braid all the way to the hook. I have used 10 and 15 pound braid. Have stuck to the 15lb mostly. It’s so small as it is. The 10lb is hard to full with sometimes because it’s so small. I have ran leaders before but since livescoping mostly now I just run the braid to the jig and it has been working excellent
