Default Deer Hunting, but wondering about Taylorsville

I'm sitting in my deer stand. Absolutely bored to death. Saw lots of deer Tuesday and none today. My wife has seen 7 so that is a plus.

How is Taylorsville? Water temp? Depth to be looking around. Kinda new at fall fishing because usually I'm in a tree. As I get older, fishing just grabs my attention more. Of course until I see a large rack.

I jumped out the stand and on to the water on Sunday after it hit 80. Water temp was 62 and crappie were not schooled up just yet. Can a few dinks casting the banks and a few dinks 5-8 feet deep in 10-15 foot of water. Say them on the graphs they just werent having my bait. Caught quite a few shellcracker and some bluegill casting the banks also. Hope that helps some

Partner and I went earlier this week ... water temps around 60* -- water clarity was a slight murky green (probably from the quick rise/fall last week) -- fished the timber around the Little Beech Creek mouth area -- caught around a dozen or so, but only one keeper -- fish were still hanging around standing timber with branches at the 15' depths, but we did see more at the 10-15' depths than we did a couple of weeks ago. All fish caught on jig/plastics -- bite was a little better than last time, but still very tentative (very slight tics to lite thumps) and all fish were hooked in the lips (not one was hooked in the roof of the mouth). Minnow anglers didn't seem to be doing any better than we were, size or numbers.

They were doing a controlled burn at Little Beech Creek ... even had a Smoke Hazard warning sign at the Settlers Trace ramp :

Did pretty well last weekend in a few bank spots I hit. Went again this morning and nothing. Caught em on minnows under a bobber between 5-7 ft down: fished opening of a few coves I can hike into. Hopefully by spring I’ll have my little boat ready.

    to Crappie.com !!

Hope you do get your boat ready & on the water. Also hope to see reports/pics from your trips to Taylorsville or wherever you go (creeks, ponds, other lakes). Maybe we'll even meet on Taylorsville one of these days.
