You are a better lure maker and fisherman than I am, but my first thought is should the tail be turned 90 degrees one way or the other? I like the little legs. I saw Linder on one of his shows take a big bass jig and put the swim fish tail on sideways. He said fish would hit because they have never seen it before. My thought was they might not hit because they had never seen it before.

slabeye, like all of these, should work good. Also, I think if you can downsize a little and take off the tail, these would work great for shellcrackers. They seem to like the 'bug' look with all the legs.
