Default green river lake area places to buy minnows and eat

were coming up to fish the usa tournament on green river lake in oct, i'd like some recommendations for good places to eat, stay(cheapest possible place with hotwater and my tires won't be stolen), and a good place buy minnows, ya'll know the area alot better than i do
please don't take us as a threat to your crappie population or to your tournament friends, were just coming for a good time

also i have been reading and hearing that the avg size crappie there is relatively small compared to alot of areas, is this true?, what kinda wieghts would you expect to win an event in late oct?

There is a few air b&bs in the area. I’m assuming your coming to fish the crappie USA tournament. They sale minnows right there at the dock in Holmes bend and there is also Green River Bait shop and Patterson’s grocery relatively close to the ramp.

Holmes Bend Marina cabins are likely already booked up for that week, and possibly even the Kamper Kabins & the rooms at the Suites building. But ... won't hurt to call about them. 1-800-801-8154

Other than that, you might find lodging in Columbia, Ky .... but I'd stay away from the small motels (just sayin). And there are restaurants there.

As Mackie89 has said ... minnows can be purchased at the Marina, and Green River Grocery & Bait/gas (just a couple miles down Little Egypt Road ... turn right off Holmes Bend Road as you head towards the marina), and Patterson's (Knifely, Ky).

Yes, the average size is "smaller" than other major lakes in the state, but there are good fish to be had. Green is more of a "numbers" lake, than a size of fish lake. I checked the previous couple of years CUSA weights for this time of year to get an idea of average winning weights .... and there hasn't been a CUSA tourney at Green in Oct over the last decade. They've all been in April or June. Apr 2019 winning weight was 16lbs - June 2018 winning weight was 11lbs.

I highly recommend the Tackle Box. Its on the right as you go into the state park.
