Default Lake Barkley Lodge and Dinning

I try to support the local economy best I can living here in Trigg County, and we all know we need to support our own local communities best we can during these trying times. There is an article today in the WKDZ (Trigg County Radio/Webpage) where the Governor has shut down Lake Barkley Lodging, Lake Barkley has 126 hotel rooms, 13 cottages and restaurant seating for 225 people, supports over 100 local jobs. No estimation when it will open back up. Now, this is the insane reason, it is shut down to house COVID-19 Patients, the maximum patients they had is 8, The Lodge currently has four COVID-19 Patients at the time of this writing. How do we justify closing one of the most profitable Lodges during peak Summer Season for four COVID-19 Patients? Loss of at least 100 jobs and god knows how much revenue for Trigg County? Personally, I'm over the COVID-19 Issue, I will do what I can to protect myself but life has to go on. Your government hard at work for you!!!! I think it is time to go pop me a Corona. Stay Safe.

Barkley Lodge is one of my favorites. The building itself just has an old-school feel to it, mainly I guess because it's been the same since I was kid going there since the early 90s. The pool is one of the best of the state parks around! It has such a cool layout, the golf course nearby is nice, there's a trap range, a nice indoor pool, and the kids always enjoy the recreational programs/activities with the staff during the summer. I always recommend it to others visiting the area.

It sure is a shame that it's closed down for Memorial Day Weekend, and you're right in that it's a big employer for the area. The kitchen and cleaning staff alone is pretty significant, no telling how many make up the grounds crew with such a large property and all that landscaping!

There doesn't appear to be any end to this any time soon.....I'm hearing now that 4th of July fireworks shows are more than likely going to being canceled at the various state parks and marinas in the area. The storms we had last year messed up a lot of the fireworks shows, looks like it's going to be a bust again this year.

That was the last place I took my family for a sit down meal before this Corona hit. We were going there for Easter but that got shot down...It is a very neat place that was designed by a famous architect from what I gather.

your governor is like all the insane leftist idiots who make crazy decisions that affect their citizens in a totally negative way and do NOT make sense from a healthcare or any economic way. they are INTENTIONALLY trying to destroy their states economies and many many folks lives for petty tyrannical reasons and by the way THEY DO NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO DO SO!! need to all be sued personally for the awful damage they are doing and they and their parties need to be voted out asap or REcall efforts need to start.

simply open up the facilities and their state and trust the folks to make good common sense choices. the incident in this state are tiny and in the counties outside of louisville they are miniscule!

The thing I don't get about this deal is that the original intent was never to totally prevent people from getting it as that was deemed impossible with all the unknowns of this virus. I thought the intent was to drastically stall the progression of the virus enough to allow time to prepare for a "big" outbreak by building inventories of masks, ventilators, and other resources needed to treat people. Additionally by stalling the progression, it would allow a little more time to complete additional research and fine tune treatment methods so when a "big" outbreak happens more people could be saved. I feel like those objectives have been completed and that it is time to reopen/go back to normal and see if the "big" outbreak really happens or not, and if it does happen we are now far more prepared for it than we would have been if there hadn't been a shutdown.

There are a lot of people hurting financially over this deal, especially those with jobs or businesses in tourism, restaurants, and hotels. So many places here around KY Lake and Lake Barkley rely on the summer tourism season in order to survive the winter, after this "off" summer they probably won't have enough to make it through winter to reopen for summer of 2021.

I try to take a common sense approach to things. I was down on the Florida Pan Handle this weekend along Grayton Beach, Santa Rosa and Destin, It was crowded, people everywhere, bars, eateries full, people did not seem to have any care or fear at all. I'm not much of a political guy, but my god!!!, I cannot but to help think this is done intentionally to destroy our economy, our way of life and most of all to get rid of President Trump. You cannot justify shutting down this local economy for four COVID-19 Patients. No one in their right mind would do this without a hidden agenda.

I hear y'all, but please "no politics". There are other sites for that. Our rules state, "no politics". It's just too hot a topic, and we need at least one place on the Internet where we can keep cool.

Any and all tourist/traveller dependent places are hurting now. We've just been doing what we have always been doing during all of this except sitting down in a restaurant to eat and going into church. Lord knows those areas around the lakes don't need anything else to hurt/hold them back. The west bank of ky lake surprises me every time I go down through there at all the resorts and shops that are not open.

The big campgrounds shut down in LBL has to be hurting Cadiz and Grand Rivers too. We would have already been to Hillman's once or twice by now. We did do a family back country trip a while back but only one night to do some turkey hunting.
