Default Asian Carp Barrier below Barkley Dam Info

To all, I've tried to get pictures and stuff on a 'Barrier' to stop the Asian Carp below the Barkley Dam on the west side, lock area. I would like to come down and fish for Bluegill from the bank on the West side, near the 'Lock areas', but don't know if you can fish in this area from the bank due to the dang useless crap they've put in there. This area may be restricted from fishing, but don't know how my slip bobber, sinker and small hook can cause ANY problems. IF you have been down there in this area, let me know if you can still fish there. I've done this in previous years and had a ball catching Bluegill in this area.

As much as I griped to F&W and wrote in my articles about how stupid is is to close that entire area, there's a huge sign that says the west bank to even with the tip of the lock wall is closed to fishing.

M R thanks. Man, than wing area was the key to create a calm eddy to fish in, sorry they have it blocked off. I have done pretty well on the East Side up near the Dam when the discharge is not too high. (IF they are dumping a pile of water, then forget fishing from the bank on the East Side in my opinion).

That was one of my favorite bluegill spots. Even with the tip of the wall to about 20' towards the lock. Used to catch some of the biggest and thickest bluegills right there. I'd take the kids down there and load up a couple of baskets of some mighty fine fish.
