    Default Hooks for spider rigging?

Just curious what hooks and size you fellers are using when spider rigging minnows? I’ve been using #4 red bait holder hooks but they have zero give to them . I feel like maybe if I used a different hook it would bend enough to get loose sometimes when I hang up. Thanks

I'd use #2 bronze Aberdeen hooks (lite wire version if possible) .... even a #4 Aberdeen hook would likely bend out before a "bait holder" hook would.
I don't Spider Rig ... but I did inherit Chucky's jighead collection, which he used for Spider Rigging, and most of them have #4 hooks & some have #2 hooks. He used jigheads and various brands & styles of plastics & tipped the hooks with big minners.

    Eagle Claw 214EL in #2 ...

These can be straightened and re-bent dozens of times without breaking ...

I use #1 hooks no matter how I am fishing or fishing with 95% of time and 5% #2 hooks AND NEVER SMALLER...As long as you don't souse it in more times than not you can get it out (unless pappy is with you....lol)..

I use #2 true turn hooks. I've had good luck with them.

I agree with what Slabeye said. I always use a #1 and never anything smaller than a #2. The Eagle Claw 214EL in #1 is my hook of choice. And I always use the bronze color. I really believe I catch more crappie using bronze hooks than I do gold or red. The same goes for jig hooks. But, that's just my opinion.

I use #2 Aberdeen light wire hooks all the time. Tried them all and these seem the best size. I'm talking about using minnows for bait. If you hang up, most of the time, you can pull/bend the hook out to get loose. You need to be using 6# or higher test line to be able to do this.
