Buddy, I haven't heard of any such thing & can't find any such extension ruling online. All they say is their office is closed to public (walk-ins) and sparsely staffed. I mailed mine in and got the stickers back in less than a week. I guess you could call your county clerk and ask.
I always mail mine in, and consider the $2.00 processing fee worth not having to spend the time, effort, and gas to drive downtown and stand in a line for 20-30mins.

I got my boat, trailer and fishing license on line. Easy to do and only takes about 5 to 10 days to get them. Fishing license is immediate print it out from computer.

In my county, our county clerk abruptly retired so all registration offices are shut down until further notice. We literally can’t renew registrations even if we wanted to lol. I work for the city police dept and they have said they are not enforcing any sort of registration or insurance issues until this all blows over. I expect other agencies are following suit. And if someone does say something about it, they won’t hammer you over it

They extended the expiration date because not everyone can simply mail theirs in. In some instances it requires seeing the PVA office for determination of the tax total (the card in the mail will say "see PVA" instead of giving a total) which happens to me any time I buy a boat and have to pay taxes on it the first time. It's hard to go see the PVA office when it's closed, so that's the reason for the deadline extension.
