    Default KY Dam Marina Ramp

For anyone coming in to fish the north end of KY Lake and launching from the state ramp at KY Dam Marina in the coming weeks, pay close attention to sharp construction debris in the lower lot and on the ramp itself. Check your tires before leaving the ramp and travelling back to the house.

I filled a quart plastic container with metal debris from 3 of the 5 ramp lanes yesterday afternoon after playing around with a couple of different props. If it's not raining when I get off of work I'll swing by on the way home to pick some more up off the ramp itself. The construction crew is leaving our ramp an absolute mess while rebuilding the floating docks damaged by last year's tornado. Countless deck screws, sheet metal screws, old roofing nails, sharp metal from drilling pilot holes into steel plate, and handfulls of washers litter all five lanes of the new ramp that the KY Dept of Fish and Wildlife helped build for us. I am not sure who the contractor is working for the marina, but they need to be held accountable for the sheer number of tire hazards they are recklessly leaving all over the ramp and lower lot.

Good on you for going out of your way to clean up somebody else’s mess. So many people just go on by and say it’s not their problem. I feel it’s the job of anyone who enjoys the resource, to take care of it. I always try to pick up floating plastic I find on the lake or garbage I find around the ramps I use.
I agree the contractor should be responsible for cleaning it. Hopefully someone will bring it to their attention before too many tires are damaged

Thanks for the heads-up. Since the marina has no ties or responsibilities for the ramp, I'm sure they aren't concerned about it, especially since the marina is owned and managed by some corporation out of Texas now. Probably would have to talk to the park rangers at the State Park for it to be policed more.
