Default When are crappie up shallow again in the fall

Usually don't fish much in the fall, but I'm gonna make a special effort to do so. When about will they move up the creeks and around shallow cover like they do in the spring?

Depends on the lake, I'm guessing.

Right now at Cumberland ... they already are, and have been for a few weeks

Right now on Ky Lake (in Tenn) ... Cane Pole just posted that he caught some in <6fow

Right now at Taylorsville ... they're not in shallow water (or at least I couldn't find any that were yesterday )

Right now at Green River Lake ... one day they are and the next they're not so much

Fished Taylorsville today left with a limit. Fish were 8-10 ft over 35-50 ft of water. This is 3 weeks in a row that they have been hanging out in the deep stuff.

Absolutely, buddy !! They may not be shallow every day, all day, but they will come shallow sometime during the day.
I've actually caught Crappie at Taylorsville in Dec/Jan that were shallower than those I caught during the Apr/May spawn.

And just to clarify - when I talk "shallow" I am talking <8ft deep ... regardless of the depth of water they're in.

Less than 8 ft I haven’t found yet. I’m sure they are that somewhere on that lake. I don’t spend lots of time looking because I know what’s working for me now. I do know as the afternoon wears on the fish seem to get bigger and closer to shore but I’m still fishing in 35 FOW at that time. I’m sure if you did an overnight trip you would end up very close to shore. I’m just sharing what has been working for me and has been pretty consistent for several weeks. We also never know, when asking other folks casting the banks, “ have you been catching any fish “. They answer “ just a few “ or “ not really “. What’s a few. 20 ? Or 2. You never know. It’s all good, if your fishing.
