Thread: i know somebody is fishing t- ville

I know Seekbigger was "supposed" to be going to T-ville last Thur., but haven't seen or heard anything. I'm thinking about going one day this week (maybe) and on Sat. (more likely) ... and will report, regardless of outcome.

Have been getting some nice fish by single pole jigging the timber. Put in at marina and stay pretty much that end of lake. Been catching at 8-10 feet over 28-35 FOW. Fished it 3 days last week. Been doing better with minners

I just don't think you'll see many detailed reports from any lake here these days. Most have come to realize there are just too many folks that "stalk" this page just for information. It's a great way to get a crowd to your hot spot. It's unfortunate, but it's a fact.

Yes, that is a "problem" ... but one that we can deal with by simply only giving out general info about the trip/catch & using the bottom of the boat or the sky (or at home) as the background to your pics. When you report your catch & only give the name of the lake (if that), what baits were used, what methods were used, then the "Trolls" & "Meathogs" scanning for hot spots are left out in the cold.

We just have to remember that this is a "public" forum .... which means that the public can "view" the forums & the information contained within them, and not be a member of the site. On any given day there are hundreds, if not thousands, of people viewing this site. And even if some of those are members logged in & members not logged in (but still viewing) ... that still doesn't add up to the total number of viewers that the site recognizes, which means that there are literally hundreds upon hundreds of people checking out our reports & conversations/discussions. And it only takes a few "meathogs" finding out the specifics of where you caught your fish before that spot is covered up with them.

Back when I used to fish Taylorsville, the same approach worked nearly every time, regardless of the time of year....the location might change, but the technique was the same. Simply fish minnows under a slip bobber, and place that bobber up against the tree trunk so it's pretty well touching. Having the minnow at about 8 ft deep was the most common, but sometimes I'd go a little more than that.

The slip bobber was key, as it pulls the bait up and down.....whereas clip-ons would drag through the limbs and hang up more.

The stretch of trees on the east bank from Possum Ridge north to just past the little pocket was always good, they were always positioned somewhere along that stretch.

Along with this stretch of bank, 37.992244, -85.291668, and then this one, 38.003564, -85.291154

Like I said, the technique was always the same for me, but some locations would end up being better than others.....once I kind of figured out where the fish were relating in those three spots, then I would try others to replicate it.

I will say whenever the water was muddy, I never had much luck, and eventually just quit going whenever I heard the water was muddy.

I also caught a lot of white bass and blue cats. If the crappie didn't work out, I could always get onto something else. Bass fishing was tough there, but I did catch a few nice ones over the years, usually on a bitsy bug jig or texas rig strike king baby rage craw.

I would say most folks are gearing up for hunting season, or maybe already hunting. Plus the kids have activities in full swing right now too, so most parents are struggling to get onto the water (like me).

I fished Barkley and Kentucky yesterday. Judging from the number of folks at both ramps I’ll respectfully disagree

I went yesterday (Tuesday).
Water was 70 to 71 degrees, looks like it's starting to turn over.
Water was blackish from Settlers all the way up to within a mile of Chowning.
Bite was real slow, everyone I talked to was complaining.
I managed several crappie using minnows on a 16oz jig in 15 to 20 ft of water
and letting it go deep into the brush around blow-downs, Mainly around settlers area.
I couldn't get a bite on up by Chowning where the water looked better.
Parking lot was pretty full at Settlers.
