Sure I always thaw mine in the sink covered with water a day or 2 early . I rinse em off then put them in the fridge up to 2-3 days before cooking
I thawed out some crappie filets Thursday afternoon and put them in the refrigerator in a bowl of water, will they still be good to fry up Saturday afternoon?

Thanks Slabprowler I can rest easier now. Having a little fish fry for the grandkids Saturday.
Do it, they will be fine.
I freeze mine in ziplock bags, then thaw them out by just putting them down in the fridge for a day (or two or three) ... they come out fine, so I see no problems with your method.
Letting them soak in water just makes them mushy.

They will be fine... One thing I do different is once they are in the frig I take them out of water. Just me but I think it soaks out some of the flavor, oils, etc IMO
