    Default Ky Lake advice request

Hey gents...first time fishing Ky Lake this time of year. It's been tough with the wild weather swing. I've been pulling cranks with very limited success. Fishing out of Sportsman's on Jonathon Creek. Any advice would be welcome and much appreciated. Here for a couple more days.

I did pretty well Saturday in that creek. Single pole jig brush piles out at the mouth then down the secondary channel. Even a couple sauger. Very light bite on jigs. Towards evening we cast the banks and had a few nice fish. I don’t pull cranks so not much help there.

Crankbaits bite in that area was slow last week. I’ll be there this morning with a client and we’ll be pulling jig and roadrunners shallow , long lining. May even pull out a couple of my OffShore planer boards.

I fished both Jonathan and a couple of other bays yesterday. For us, the crappie bite was dead on both cranks and longline. The surface temp had dropped 10 degrees since Thursday. The hard NE wind didn’t help either.

The fish might be settling down after the big weather shift. We managed to pick up a few on cranks Tue. Mostly in the late afternoon after the wind subdided. Was running 35-45 feet of line in 15-16 feet of water. Geezer Clown for the win.
Out for 1/2 day this morning and then headed home.

Yesterday morning (Wed.) we went out for a few hrs before heading home. Managed to pick up 5 good crappie. Pulled Picos at varying lengths out...35-60 ft.....along steep channel dropoffs adjacent to very shallow flats.
Why is it the fish start biting when its time to pack up and head home? A public shoutout to Capt. Doug Wynn. Went with Doug a year or so ago for a lesson on pulling cranks, and it was money well spent.
