Default KY Lake hot weather limit.

I needed to set up my gear for next weeks Crappie Masters National Championship on Grenada. I didn’t see a break in this weather so I decided to get out today by myself. A big part of our tactic next week will involve Off Shore planer boards.

I got out at sunrise and headed to a main lake drop that has produced in the past. My trolling passes ended up producing a pair of nice blue cats and 7-8 drums from 3 pounds to 20 pounds. The 20 pounder is still wearing a Geezer Clown Pico due to not having a net big enough to get it in the boat to remove the crank. It broke off on the last of several attempts to grip the hooks with pliers.

I finally found a pattern that produced better crappie than I’ve been catching. Even with the extreme dry weather, high temps, and little current, the crappie seem to be easing into their fall haunts. Name: IMG_0108.jpg

Justin Elder (Finiman) is my wonderful tournament partner and great friend. We’ll be going to Grenada as a team.

Saw you manning the barge today headed back to the marina near the bridge. I was working my way back to the truck. I didn't get a limit, but I had 11 nice fish plus 1 large drum and some cats. Im still pretty new to the crankbait pulling but everything I know, I learned from crp4570! He's been a great help.

Very nice Doug. Good to see Kentucky producing quality fish heading into fall.

Looking forward to the Grenada report!
Here at home the Crappie have moved also, even though water temp is still the same.
