    Default Cave Run Lake 8/16

Had another great outing with my family Friday night. We were spider rigging as usual, we fished from 9 pm to 2 am, found the fish hanging in the channel 50 to 53 fow, stacked from 8 to 22 feet deep, most fish were caught around 14' deep. The water temp was 86 and the boat traffic was terrible, but we managed a 5 man limit with some very nice fish, best color was dark green/chartreuse and gold, some were caught on plain minnows. Just a great night to be out with the family. God Bless and thanks for reading.Name: 0817191134.jpg

Nice catch. Have a couple questions that will help me I hope. When you say you are 'spider rigging' during the night, does that mean you are constantly slow trolling with the rigs in the water, or do you stop and fish right over a specific area? Also, you say you catch them on jigs (some caught only on minnows), but do you tip your jigs with minnows or just use the jig without a minnow when using jigs?

I continue moving slow, just like daytime spider rigging, rarely ever stopping for very long at all. If I find a good school of crappie I just troll through them, turn around and go through them again. I use straight minnows, and jigs tipped with minnows this time of year.
