Thanks, CP ! The fish are increasing in general size...maybe due to "no size limit" effort to get the stunted numbers down?
But then again, I don't really see a whole lot of folks exclusively targeting crappie. We hit it during the spawn and size was up very well.
But this time of year, it's the night shift for my fishing. I ain't so much chasing them as they are hunting for me and my little buddies gathered
up in a big swimming wad around my boat. I did have to do a little hunting for the right spots/conditions but it seems those productive spots
continue to produce night after night.

I know there are boats coming by us that think "What the heck are they doing sitting out here? They won't catch nothing like that". It was hard
for me to break that mindset of crappie always close to cover. After experimenting a night or two, I discovered a good pattern and it works anywhere I can
duplicate it on that lake. All I had to do was add a pair of electric anchors and a good measure of anchor line. Hint hint

Yeah, I get the "hint hint" .... I've trolled Road Runners out in the middle of the lake & caught Crappie (years ago) in the middle of the day. We saw little "dimples" on the surface and thought it might be Bluegill picking bugs off the water, and we weren't having any luck close to shore line moss or timber, so we decided to drag our RR's around out in the middle of the lake and see if we could catch some of them. To our surprise ... we caught Crappie. Unfortunately, at that time, the size limit was still in effect & none of the Crappie were keepers.

Have you ever caught any Blacknose Black Crappie from Cedar Creek Lake ?? I ask because my buddy & I have both caught Blacknose out of there, but again it was back when the size limit was still in effect. I haven't fished Cedar Creek in quite a few years & was just wondering if they were still present in any numbers.

I have not caught any Blacknose yet. I am the lucky one that gets to clean all the fish my brothers and I catch on these night excursions so I'd notice.
Now that you've mentioned them, watch me catch a few. I'll post images should that happen.

Mind me asking what type or brand of light you use?
