    So which one worked? North wind was a beast, not many places to hide when its out of that direction, it just swirls around the lake....jigging trees was tough.

    Nothing worked for me. 2 year old motor wouldn’t start. Tried rigging and longlining near settlers trace, no crappie for me.

    i caught nothing. like said before wind was bad, water is back down, water 83-84 degree blue bird skies i spider rigged the mouth of an inlet across from dam and all through ashes creek fished 4 hrs not a bite

    It was rough, but good to be out. Now I dont feel so bad. No crappie for me either, caught 2 cats and a saugeye on hair jigs.

    I would expect the crappie population to be a little thin based on what was harvested this spring.

    In terms of "keeper" sized fish (& larger) .... I tend to agree. Not that I did all that much damage to the population this year, but a few years back - when the 13-14" fish seemed to appear out of nowhere - I did notice a decline in size & numbers through the rest of that year & a couple of years following. And I believe that year was prior to the size limit increase to 10" for "keeper" Crappie.
