Dang, not good.
The two FIN lakes here at Georgetown were both stocked with 500 catfish each this week around the17th.. As of yesterday, I saw at least 300 dead catfish floating, stuck in the moss at the Lusby lake and saw 100 or so floating in the Scott County park lake. Vultures are lining the banks. No one was catching catfish in any numbers, maybe one of two. So, I guess the hot weather took it's toll on the newly stocked fish. Appreciate the stocking, just wish these fish would have survived the 1st couple days.
That STINKS! (Pun intended)

Sad, bad timing, I guess!
Yep, just talked to a guy that said they had the same problem in Lexington on the new FIN lake at Southland Christian Church, lots of dead fish. The only 'catching' I saw here this week was from a guy with a large landing net gathering up the catfish still alive swimming next to the bank the day after the stocking. He hauled in a pile of them. I guess this was good, they would have been dead, floating the next day and maybe he cleaned them before they got rank. One thing I saw is ALMOST all of these dying catfish had these 1-2" diameter solid white rings all over their bodies. Is this some kind of virus? Never seen this before. The dying fish looked ugly. I would never have 'netted' them and took them home, they just looked messed up. Just hope our KFW would consider a 'restocking' for the cat fishermen here next month. I don't fish for them, but a lot do here, and this last stocking was a bust.
Same thing is going on here in Maysville & Flemingsburg lakes.
The FIN lakes remaining catfish stocking schedule has been delayed until August per current Fish and Wildlife FIN Lake stocking schedule listed at their website.
Same thing at Hubble lake/also a fins lake.
