    Default Lesson #1

I’ve hooked up with a very worthy person who’s trying to learn, and is eager to listen, on how to be a more consistent crappie fisherman. Fort Knox cannot hold the amount of gold his heart is mane of. On each of our trips out on the lake we discuss techniques on how to get better at catching. I have always set out to make my #1 rule, “Never ever stay in one spot too long.” You can own a new Ranger with the biggest four stroke they make, elections linked up to the Max that would cross Rickie’s eyes, ever imaginable color combo of jig an tail, and all the gadgets within arms reach that even Capps N Coleman would be jealous of. But if you pull over a-spot that looks too good to be true and spend more than fifteen minutes without a bite, those fish just humiliated you. Yesterday, all those fish on the screen your looking at humiliated me. We stayed better than an hour on that spot without a so much as a bite. Next two spots, caught fish almost immediately, nice fish. One that went 14”.

This post is only aimed at one 68 year old man with a thick skull! Dear Slabseeker1, never forget rule #1, no matter how good it may look. Name: IMG_1407.jpg

Sort of a "memo to self", eh Seeker ??

Them rascals can certainly humiliate & frustrate us humans !! Made even more obvious when you're watching them come up to the bait & then turn and swim away on a Livescope screen !!

Have been in the boat with "live scope " users who haven't adjusted to fish saying NO! Learning curve comes slower to some than others .

    I can imagine, Eagle 1

I've always "known" there were more fish down there (where I'm fishing) and never really expected every fish in the school to bite my bait ... but watching 90% of them check out the bait & refuse it was an eye opening experience, for real !!

I fish a clear water private quarry lake where I've watched the crappie
surround my bait but wouldn't bite it no matter what I do.
I've actually hit them on the nose with it and watch it roll off their head
    without them even moving.

JC, I used to fish a small farm pond that was the same way. The fish would even come up near the bank and just sit there as if they were watching a show. It was very rare to catch one.
