Default Rough day at Willisburg lake

Fished yesterday from 5-8pm. Caught 1 crappie and had tons of bites figuring they were mostly small bluegill. Fished 5 to 25 fow at depths between 5 to 23 feet deep. Has anyone else had any luck here?

Fished there yesterday. Started pulling cranks but the fish where high in the water column. Caught 4 on cranks and lost as many. Switched to pushing jigs and caught another 12 or so. Kept 8

You know, I pass by that lake on my way to Green, and have often wondered about fishing it. I've even looked at it on my Navionics Webapp page, but there are no contours marked on the lake. I seldom see more than a few trailers at Danny's Marina ramp, so I'm doubting it gets heavy fishing traffic.

What can you guys that have fished it, or often fish it, tell me about the lake ?? Google Maps seems to indicate that it's mostly open water (no standing timber that I could see) and the KDFWR Fish Attractors page does not list Willisburg Lake, so I would have to assume that any cover added to the lake would have had to be placed there by locals or visiting anglers.

It used to be full of crappie. They were over populated. I've heard there are better ones being caught now. I think if you catch a bunch it would be good to take them home.

It is full of 7-8 inch fish. And you are correct pappy not much cover to speak of. They can be tricky to locate but once you do its usually easy to get ur limit if you don’t mind the small ones, no size limit. I have caught fish over a pound, but never any rhyme or reason to the bigger fish. Danny will point you in the right direction and the lake is strictly a fishing lake no joy riders or jet skis.
    Keep on keepin on!!!
