Bringing back some old school from the 60's&70's. No 3D eyes, chenille or oven baked jig heads. Just a little plain jane jig that got it done. The first time I ever saw one was on the banks of the Clinch River in Tenn. I was a little feller fishing with my Dad and Grandpa and the gentleman was selling them out of a trunk of a old car beside the river. I was amazed at all the pretty colors and I got the bug right then. I told them one of these days I would make my own. I guess things has come full circle. And I hope that old man from the Clinch has a smile on his face because I kept my word after all these years. Ladies and Gents meet THE CLINCH RIVER POPEYE JIG!!!

It's untelling how many white bass I have caught on the ones on the top right. Good looking jigs!

I would say it would take a coal train to haul all the white bass that has been caught on this type of lure. Not counting the big slab crappie, but the big bull bluegill pile would be more than one train could haul. I never really got into red ears until later in life but when I did, I found they loved them too. True, you have to fish them a little different sometimes for red ears but the results are the same...A BIG STACK OF FILLETS and some hot grease. There is a great article in KyAfield magazine about this month about popeyes and catching shellcrackers. Just a old school little jig that will catch them, day in and day out.....

We tipped them with wax works for bluegill/red ears. Definitely a cool jigs.
