Default Luck comes and goes, Green second day...

Sunday started windy dodging the bass tournament boats putting in.
Today started partly cloudy and the fish were not cooperating, we did catch a nice cat, bass, and white bass but the desired species was rare.
Like yesterday they were deeper than I expected and the wind and size of Crappies ran us off earlier than we planned.
    10 good keepers.
15 feet deep over 25 feet of water.
Jigs tipped with minnows. Spider rigging.
Saw a mess on the livescope, just hard to get to bite.
I can’t understand why I buy so many colors of jigs and have such a hard time changing from what worked yesterday, even when the conditions are different!
Got home and while backing up the boat in driveway I saw smoke out of a trailer bearing! I guess that’s where all my luck was, so glad it made it back to Georgetown!

It is very interesting watching schools of shad scatter when a larger return attacks them, saw plenty of what I think are Crappies come up and follow jigs then turn away.

On Ready & I fished with Slabeye on the Fri before the Spring Fling, and he has a Livescope. We watched many Crappie come up to the jigs and turn away without touching them. We also noticed small schools of Shad turn and follow the jigs for a distance, then turn and go on their merry way. This was done while Pushing jigs @ 1mph ... and the "picture" wasn't crystal clear, like when the boat is stationary or barely moving, but we could still identify the fish as Crappie by their shape & actions (and the Shad, as well). We did catch 20 keepers, but still couldn't figure out why so many of them swam up to the jigs but turned away without touching them.

My son and I headed to Green on Sunday to try our luck at catching a few crappie. Caught around 50 with 32 keepers. Several short fish and threw back those under 10". Biggest was caught by my son and was 12". Most were in the10-11" range. We ended up keeping 22. Very comfortable day on the water. Fish seemed to be very scattered and we would just pick up a few here and there. We fished in 15-30 fow and caught them 8-15ft deep.
