Good Job !! Especially under those conditions.

Still not sure why they haven't opened the gates a little more .... I mean, 220cfs (as of this morning) isn't stopping the rise, and I seriously doubt they're going to try and hold it that high for very long.

Follow up from today. Didn't find many in the morning fishing standing trees. We switched over to spider rigging around 11 and ended up with 15 keepers and this beauty...

Caught most 8 to 12 feet deep in 25 to 35 FOW. Bite was very light and missed lots of fish and several got off at the boat. Water temp started at 58.5 and by the afternoon it was 62. Color wasn't bad at all considering the recent rain. Lots of debris floating though. Didn't talk to anyone doing better than us. Similar stories everywhere but the fish are definately scattered.

I'm glad to see the saugeyes that the department stocked are doing well. I've seen some good fish come out of Taylorsville this year from folks spider rigging.

Thanks for the report, JL .... I kinda figured that would be the case (scattered fish, temps back into the 50's, lots of floating debris). The lake is falling, but very slowly (just barely under 7' over pool as of 415PM today)

I see you found one of those Saugeye, too !! Congrats !! We got one last trip, and while talking to a guy on the bank I got a 8 incher on my Road Runner. He was fishing minners under a float about a foot or so & said he had 13 Crappie & a 16" Saugeye, and had thrown back a handful of undersized Saugeye. He was on the roadbed that goes into the water at the pocket to the right of the Settlers launch ramp when we talked to him, but I don't know if that's where he caught his fish.

Saw on the Ky Afield Fishing Call-in show where they talked about stocking Saugeye in T-ville, and how they're a fast growing fish and seem to be doing well in the lake. Who knows, maybe one of us will catch the next state record from there in a couple of years. Current state record is 6.5lbs out of the Ohio River from back in 1998. With the huge Shad base T-ville has, the Saugeye should have the feed bag on all year long. Pretty tasty fish, too !! (I ate the one my partner caught last trip )

I was excited when I finally saw what it was. I've been wanting to catch a legal sized fish since I caught a small one last year. I'm even more excited about eating him! I didn't have a ruler so my crappie box and a dollar bill had to do. Roughly 18 inches long. Didn't weigh it but I will before i clean it.

Yeah, I guesstimated the length on Paul's fish, as well. It was a tail fin longer than my Golden Rule, which I "think" is a little over 15" long, so I called it 16" but it could have been a tad bit longer.
I just knew that the new state size limit rules for Walleye/Sauger/Saugeye is 14" .... so in the box it went. The creel is 6/day/person, singly or in combination of the three species.
