    Default t-ville 9/13

really bad start today wont bore you guys with details finally got on water about 11 am. water 57 degree spider rigging red jig head bobby garland baby shad and tipped with minnow. seamed to be scattered but best fishing was 10-12 fow, 6-8ft down so i spent a lot of day getting hung up lol really put the southern crappies to the test but they hung in there. i wound up keeping 10 nice crappie and 1 stupid channel cat that hit a jig head not a limit but my best mess ever spider rigging as this is second yr trying parking lot at settlers was full possum ridge had only a few left. it was very frustrating not being able to pull in a spot because people cant park tralers straight i moved someone trailer for them just grabbed the back and scooted it then pulled in.

Great job! That's a nice mess and you're getting better with the spider rigging!

so when they go to the banks obviously spider rigging will not be the efficient way to go so what is ? vertical casting, under float, casting banks?

The most "efficient" way, in those circumstances, IMHO .... is casting jigs or Road Runners along the banks. Not that the other methods mentioned won't work, as they most certainly will ... it's just that casting down a bank will help you quickly find out how deep they are, what cover they're holding on, and where they're concentrated. ANY piece of "wood" in 2-10fow, be it a bush, a log, a stump, or even a standing tree can be a magnet for them to spawn around ... and it don't matter if it's up in a creek or out on the main drag.

I usually have two rods rigged : one with a 1/16oz marabou Road Runner & the other with a 1/16oz weedless jighead & plastics. If I see the wood or know it's there, I'll throw the jig/plastics ... I'll throw the Road Runner along stretches of bank between those spots with wood. I've even been known to troll the Road Runner between spots (and especially if many of those spots along a bank have likely been worked over before I got to them, or have a boat sitting on them).
