    Thumbs up Taylorsville trip 4/6/19

Carl (cjpar3) and I went to Taylorsville Lake & arrived around 10AM to find the Possum Ridge parking lot FULL

Nonetheless, we launched and headed right across from the ramp and around the point to the little creek pocket between Possum Ridge ramp & Settlers Trace Marina. We cast the bank until we got to the marina ... I got one keeper on a Pink marabou Road Runner. We then went across the lake and down the left bank out in front of the marina and set up our long rods for Pushing/Longlining jigs. In the following 6 hrs we went down that bank, back into Little Beech & came back out and across the main lake, then around and down that bank all the way to the mouth of Jack's Creek. Then crossed over the mouth of Jack's creek and worked our way down that bank, past the dam, and back to the marina. Went to Possum Ridge ramp & loaded the boat on the trailer & headed home.

We fished in water depths of 20-40ft ... running our jigs at around 6ft deep ... trolling motor speed @ ~1mph
We would pick up a fish here & there most of the time, but did double a couple times each.
We used a variety of colors, but my Slabalicious Popsicle (boot tail) seemed to be the better producer overall.
We ended up with 19 keepers, with Carl's 11" Black Crappie being the biggest of the day.
We caught several small White Bass, and I hung into a couple of large Hybrids (but both came unbuttoned).
The water is still murky to muddy & temps of around 56-58deg.

Props to Greenfish for his "tips", without which we would probably have done what over half of the other boats were doing ... fishing against the bank, and catching mostly dinks
Thanks charley2 thanked you for this post

Glad you all got out and caught some! The boat traffic had to make it tough yesterday but can't blame anyone and everyone for wanting to get out and catch some on a nice day like that! It happened to be a nice day for me to work then help my brother move...

Me and a friend of mine also went Saturday. Much of the same that has been mentioned on here. Fish suspended 10 ft deep in 30 ft of water. We wound up with 26 keepers. Does anyone know what it will be like after this rain? I was thinking about taking my uncle tomorrow.

Me and a good friend fished Taylorsville Lake Saturday (4/6) as well. There was a long line to put in but it moved rather quickly. We got in the water around 7:30 am. We trailed jigs in 30’ of water & caught them at 10’. When it slowed, we fished the bank. We ended up limiting out with Crappie and caught 5 hybrids. It helped when we added Crappie Niblets to the jig.

The lake raised up a little over 1.5ft after yesterdays rain (as of 9AM this morning) .... and today's rain will likely raise it some more. I'm not sure what that will do as far as the depth and pre-spawn feeding run the fish are on, but it will likely muck the water color up some more. But, I would think that as long as the water temps stay in the mid 50's ... the fish aren't likely to change their current actions.

From all the info and reports I've been seeing, the fish are simply scattered about ... not only in location, but in depths. Some reports say they're 4-6ft deep, some say 15ft deep, but most do say that the better sized fish are still roaming out in open water.

I saw only a couple of boats actually Longline Trolling, as the majority were either Spider Rigging open water or minner/float fishing the stickups or right against the bank. I think Carl & I were the only boat Pushing jigs, as I don't remember seeing anyone else moving as fast as we were or covering as much territory as we did. At least not in the area we covered, as outlined in my original post.

Glad to see you survived the Tville armada and caught some fish.
