    Default Warming water...

So, what's your alls thoughts on warming water and crappie location? I personally disagree with any theory of crappie moving in mass migrations to warmer water. I doubt they know the water is 3 degrees warmer a mile up the lake. I think they are just more active/aggressive in the warmer locations.
    Other opinions? Disagreements?

I tend to agree with that hypothesis

They're cold blooded ... so they react accordingly to the temps of the water they're in. In the tagging study the KDFWR did on KY Lake, several years ago, there were some tagged fish that wandered several miles away, but the majority of them simply moved from the main lake Winter holding areas up into the creek closest to them to spawn. Black Crappie first & shallowest, followed by the White Crappie which stayed out deeper. The Black Crappie stayed longer (& shallower) than the White Crappie.
They "supposedly" tend to come back to the same spawning areas, year after year, and some are even known to stay in certain creeks year around (given proper depth & conditions).
