    Default Laurel Lake Crappie Fishing

To All, Don't see many posts about Laurel Crappie fishing, but I would like to try it this spring with my buddy. I have a friend that has a Cabin/house on the lake and he wants me to help him figure out how to catch Crappie at this lake this spring(He has had NO success the past 3 years). We plan to go late April, early May, we will be fishing the upper end of the lake not too far from the 'Corbin' dam in any cove that has standing timber with minnows or Jig/Minnow combination. We fished last year in July for some Bluegill in this area and did catch a bunch of little fish,4-6",but only about 30 fish over 6". We 'accidently' caught 4 decent Crappie while fishing for Bluegill. So, if Anyone does try to catch Crappie this spring at Laurel, I'd appreciate a post on how you did or have done in the past.

According to the KDFWR 2019 Forecast for Laurel Lake : (Fair)

Low density population dominated by black crappie with 10- to 12-inch fish common.Upper Laurel River Arm near city dam is the best area.
