It will be a little bit of a drive from Paducah but you should look into going to the Discovery Park of America.

And once you get done with the park go eat at The Grind Mac and Cheese Burger Bar
They have a FB page.
Family vacation! Kid friendly! Good places to eat!

In Paducah there is a number of Art Galleries, the Flood Wall along the river has Murals painted on each section, The National Quilt Museum just to name a few.
There are more restaurants than you can shake a fork at. My favorite "restaurant" is actually a fish market in Lone Oak (near by) - the Gulf Coast Connection - the best, freshest and most reasonably priced place for FRESH seafood. The shop has a few tables and chairs for those who want to eat in. They run a truck once or twice a week to the Gulf Coast and supply not only their shop but most of the better restaurants beside. High end is the Freight House whose owner/chef is one of the final three in the Top Chef TV show.

Might wanna check out Jungle Golf between Gilbertsville and Draffenville. They also have a real neat petting zoo there. There is also horse back riding and go cart track near there. Also LBL has numerous family adventures that are fun; Nature Center, Planetaruim, Old Home Place, Elk and Buffalo Viewin, hiking, walking and biking trail, etc.

Downtown Paducah by the seawall has a great ice cream place. There is also a Maritime museum. The Noble Park is a nice place to drive thru and have lunch. The mall has a nice movie theater called Cimemark. At the mall is a Sam's, Gander World, Academy, etc if you need to stock up on items. The Carson Center is by the seawall and has a lot of good entertainment. Check out their website for current activities. Also downtown is Kirchoffs, its a great place for sandwiches and its a bakery with awesome bread, cookies, etc. Of course the mall area has Chuckey Cheese and Vertical Jump. Check out Paducah Camber of Commerce and Tourism site of additional information.
x2 on Clints suggestion on LBL activities

Thank you, Clint!! I'll have to check that seafood place out! We moved down here 2.5 years ago from the Louisville area and finding good/quality restaurants around Kuttawa has been a challenge!
Something that is neat about Western Kentucky is the Cypress sloughs. If you're from any other part of Kentucky you've probably never seen cypress trees in the wild. I marvel at them all of the time down here. I'd like to go on a tour through some if that type of thing is available.

If you want to check out some Cypress sloughs you may want to go to Heron Pond or Cache River across the river in Illinois.

I second Discovery Park in Union City TN. Kids of all ages love it. It's a full day adventure and not inexpensive but well worth the time. Never left there with a grandkid that was bored or unimpressed and we make the trip a couple times a year. It's about an hour from Paducah.

What age kids do you have? Mine are from 3-13 and sometimes its difficult to find something to make them all happy

The big question is where do you plan on staying? Most of the fun stuff is out around KY Lake and LBL. Paducah is not at all what I would consider a family vacation destination. Any decent food is overpriced too. The Freight House is great food but with the fame it receives and with it's head chef recently on the tv show "Top Chef" they really jack the prices up. The Freight House does have Asian Carp on the menu, which is kind of cool. Max's Brick Oven and Does Eat Place are some others, but when it comes to great food in Paducah it's hard to beat The Kountry Kastle - I've been eating at the Kountry Kastle for over 30 years, great food, great price, and a bit of a redneck joint but no problem bringing the family there. The Kountry Kastle is good barbecue and huge menu of fried food....their onion rings are awesome. Someone already mentioned Gulf Coast Connection, it's not really a restaurant, it's more a seafood market - a guy drives a truck up from Louisiana on Wednesday with fresh seafood for purchase, they do some cooking there but it's minimal and more of a good lunch spot than somewhere I would go for dinner. I buy a lot of fresh seafood from Gulf Coast, love buying the 40 lb sacks of live crawfish in April. Kirchoff's Bakery downtown has some good carryout, great place to grab a few things and eat at a picnic table along the river. The Carson Center has some good shows for kids, somehow I got roped into taking the kids to see PJ Masks in May.
LBL - Homeplace, Nature Station, Planetarium, Elk and Bison Range, plenty walking trails (the one around Hematite Lake is an easy family one)
Aurora - nice walk across the new bridge, great ice cream stand at the Hitching Post, great burgers and milkshakes at Belews
Grand Rivers - great ice cream stand at Patti's and porckhops from the food truck (food truck is there until the restaurant gets rebuilt), walk out on the jetty for an awesome sunset, Green Turtle Bay Resort with kayak and paddle boat rentals, Green Turtle Bay Thirsty Turtle for on the water dining and bar and live music at times, Badgett Playhouse for Branson style shows
Eddyville - Venture River water park
Lake City - Knoth's BBQ, a family owned place that's been there for many years with new owners that have been schooled on how to do it the Knoth's way, also stop at the Vulcan Materials main office and take a look at the big hole/quarry
Gilbertsville - Maggie's Jungle Golf and Petting Zoo, Kentucky Shores Fun Park (new owners, being renovated now) for mini golf and go-karts
Draffenville - Catfish Kitchen for all you can eat catfish (fried pickles there are great), Kentucky Opry for live bluegrass music, Forgotten Past (older venue) with mini golf, arcade, and mini train ride on some weekends, I would advise skipping Trifecta as it's heavily advertised, Trifecta is a great bar but their food and food prices are terrible and a ripoff.
Moors Resort outside of Draffenville - great restaurant with good food and fair pricing for a lakefront location and normally has live music on the weekends, kids playground and mini golf, nice pontoon boat rentals with great beaches and rock jumping directly across the lake
Ky Dam Village - swimming beach, nice campground but not on the water, regularly scheduled activities for the kids, restaurant on site that is decent
Barkley Lodge - best swimming pool in the area that overlooks the lake, nice buffett dinner that is fairly priced, regularly scheduled activities for the kids, nice arcade
