    Default Livescope

At the American Crappie Trail tournament this past Saturday on Guntersville Lake, AL, the winning weight, as I understand it, was 31.61, which is an awesome weight by anyone's standards. I heard from some friends in Alabama, that the winning team caught those fish one-poling with jigs. But..... they were using the new Garmen Panoptics Livescope technology. Now, don't get me wrong. I am not writing this to complain. First of all, I wasn't there and so I don't really know what the team was using. Secondly, the technology is there and thus they have the right to use it. My boat is loaded with technology and if given the chance, and I could afford it, I would certainly add Livescope to my equipment. I've gone online and watched enough videos about livescope to know that it is absolutely amazing technology. I know that there are some folks who are concerned that this technology is going to seriously affect tournament fishing. Of course, the same fear was raised when DI and SI began to be used, not to mention 360 imaging. Honestly, I don't know what effect Livescope will have on the tournament, though it appears to have been a great help this past weekend. But...for the regular fisherman, it looks to be interesting technology indeed. In order to purchase Livescope, I'll have to sell some of my other fishfinding equipment.....which I may do. Of course, by the time I get to where I can purchase this new tech, it will no longer be new. Something else will, no doubt, have come on the scene far bigger and better! And I'll end up wanting that, too!!! Funny thing is, I can remember when I crappie fished with NO technology on the boat cause there was none. I think I caught just as many fish then as I do now! lol

Well, In my opioion technolgy has came along way in everything. When I was a kid we used a skull paddle, 10' telescoping pole, never heard of rod holder, fished out of a 14 or 16 v bottom jon boat with a 15 horse or less motor. We would drag our hooks on the bottom to find brush piles if we couldn't find a stick up or lay down. All we had in the tackle box was hooks, sinkers, floaters, knife, pliers, fishing line and the rolled up piece of wire we used to run the fishing line inside the pole...Now a days any of us would just go home if we had to fish like that...….lol...…..livescope is just another step in fishing.. I don't have one YET but I will have one in the very near future....

We are making new brackets for Livescope at Cornfield Crappie Gear. Lot of interest in Livescope. Most top teams using our trial brackets and the stories about seeing the fish swim up is crazy. May have to get one !!

Seriously looking at investing in Livescope, but to do that means I'll have to also purchase a Garmin fishfinder, which means a considerable amount of money. I've always been a Hummingbird man, but I've been researching Livescope, and all I can say is WOW! It is amazing and no doubt makes finding fish much, much easier. Yesterday I saw one running beside a Side Imaging unit and the Livescope was showing fish in places where the SI wasn't showing any. Of course, each application has it's place...the SI was doing great showing the bottom and structure along it....but Livescope was beating it hands down when it came to giving an accurate presentation of what was really there, particularly the fish and baitfish. Wonder how soon Humminbird will come out with something comparable? That may be my only salvation as to not having to spend mega bucks....that Humminbird will come out with a comparable product that will work on their new depth finders.
