Ms. Kelly at the marina has told me that there are no major events going on at the marina or cabins during that weekend, so cabins should be available for those wanting to stay there over the weekend. And just so everyone thinking about renting their cabins, or one of the rooms in the Suites Building, knows ahead of time ... there is a 2 night stay minimum for those accommodations. They also have Kamper Kabins, which are basic sleeping rooms only, with a shared bathhouse. There is no minimum stay requirement for the Kamper Kabins.

When I get the permit for the shelter "in hand" for that date, then I will post the Volunteer thread and the event timeline thread so that everyone can make plans accordingly.

And as has already been mentioned ... yes, that date is the same day of the KY Derby. I'm sorry if that means that some of us cannot make it because of prior commitments or plans related to the Derby (like my friends Carl & Lisa), but that date is final.

Anyone wishing to "camp" (tent or RV), there is a campground on the road into Holmes Bend Marina, but it is not owned/run by the Marina ... so you will have to contact them : Holmes Bend Campground Green River Lake

Anyone wishing to donate prizes to be given away by raffle drawing can PM me with the particulars or post the information on the Volunteer thread, when it's posted.

How much to fish does it cost to be in Tournaments??? Do you pay by the boat or individual¿??? Both the guy I fish and myself are disabled. And unfortunately I money is an issue for both and sure I'm hoping somehow we do get to fish in some tournament....thanks jonboat89

Well sir, you are in luck ... as the Spring Fling is NOT a "tournament". There is no entry fee to participate in this event.

Basically we fish Sat morning til around 1PM local time, bring our catch to the fish cleaning station on the marina where our fish cleaning crew fillets everyone's catch. The cooking crew & setup crew, in the meantime, are getting ready to cook the catch & display the prizes for the raffle drawing. We eat & chat ... hand out the goodie bags to all participants (members & guests), then draw tickets for the main prizes (tickets are handed out to Crappie.com members only). And that's all that happens. The only $$ needed would be for lodging & food, gas & bait, if you decide to make a weekend out of it. Some members have even been known to come & enjoy the festivities and not even fish.
There will be a Volunteer thread posted soon, where you can opt to bring food (side dishes) or other necessities for the event. This is strictly voluntary and not mandatory for attendance.

Well. It would be my weekend to work but I'm gonna try to adjust my schedule and make it most of the weekend. Worst case scenario I'll be there Saturday afternoon for sure! Thanks CP! Will be awaiting further info

DERBY DAY A good day to be from Louisville, as far away from as you can get !!! Ask me how I know!

Looks like I am going to make an appearance this year! That has me pretty exciting. For some reason, in years past it has always fallen when I had another commitment. Not this year!

I may have to swing down for the day. I am about an hour and half away and have been wanting to check out the lake. Was looking at it online the other day and thinking about booking a cabin for the fall at the same resort as the Fling so this would work out great to check it out.
