    Default Dewey lake

So, my big Christmas present this year was my girlfriend taking me to Jenny Wiley state park for a stay in the lodge and an elk viewing tour this weekend. I’m very excited. We just arrived and it all looks beautiful. I see that the lodge is on Dewey lake and although I didn’t bring my fishing gear, I’m definently thinking about making a trip back to fish here this year! Does anyone have any information about fishing Dewey lake?

Never been there, but the 2018 Fishing Forecast said :

"Very good numbers, but large proportion is smaller size. Most keeper fish range in sizefrom 9-11 inches for white crappie and 7-9 inches for black crappie. Popular with bankanglers due to many bank access areas." And it also warned : "Zebra mussels and hydrilla are present at Dewey Lake. Boaters are asked to take measures to prevent the spread of thesedamaging non-native invasive species by properly inspecting and disinfecting boats, trailers and equipment."

Statewide creel limit & size limit would apply .... which means there is no minimum size limit & the creel limit is 20/day/person.

With this being a smaller lake and only and hour and a half away from me it really has me interested. Plus I love the lodge, it’s very nice

As Pappy said lot of smaller size fish. There no size limit. It does have some good fish but you can catch lot of 8 inch fish. Like pappy said got one main road that run along the west side of almost the whole lake. Lot of people has bank assess almost the whole lake. The corps has cut trees and brush on the road side that makes good fishing off the bank. The lake is drawn down for winter pool and makes the upper lake unuseful. Even with up summer pool going up the lake got to stay in channel mark with buoys. Right now at winter pool got two ramps can use. One at the camp ground and the other old Terry boat dock. I've had days would catch over 100 crappie but not lot of giants.

Sorry, dude ... but there aren't any lakes in the immediate "Lexington area"
Most ALL the surrounding lakes are close to a 1hr drive or more, with Herrington Lake being about a 45min drive & Lake Reba in Richmond, Ky about the same drive time (all depending on which side of town you're on).

Jman5626, Pappy, thanks for the info. Need to put this on my 'bucket' list for this coming year. A pretty good haul for me, but my be worth it for a few days of fishing. Doesn't look like a real good way to get there from Georgetown, KY.

The Jenny Wiley lodge is beautiful. And the food is good too. If you are in the area I can also reccomend cloud 9 cafe next to the big sandy regional airport and Billy Rays restaurant in Prestonsburg. Excellent food.
I may not always be the most reliable when it comes to finding fish, but I will always find the good food! Lol
