rangerBobj is there a bait shop near there where we could get minnows ? I’m thinking to put in at Cowan rd would you have any input to which ramp to use. I know the lake is just small enough that we get to any area reasonably quick but I want to spend as much time fishing as we can and not so much running. Thanks.

There is a "bait shop" just down the road (Hwy150) from the dam (going towards Crab Orchard) called Cedar Creek Lake Outfitters. Here's a link to their website & you can call/email Randy and ask him if minners are available now. Home | CEDAR CREEK LAKE OUTFITTERS |

But, do notice that the store is only open Wed-Sun until after the end of Feb.

Don't know where you're coming from, so I can't say as to where another bait shop may be located on your route to Cowan Ramp. I use the Boone Road Ramp (up by the dam) as I come down 27 and turn onto 150 at Stanford.
