    Default Crappie Jigs

I'm looking for a good weedless jig for Crappie when fishing heavy cover. Any suggestion of brand, style or where to buy would be helpful.

Try Grousefly (member on here, you can PM him). He makes various styles.

Yes, Grousefly does make a variety of sizes/styles of weedless jigs :

    Here's a sample:

My two favorites are the top row center (fiber brush style) and the one to the right of it (Y-guard style). I have both of those styles made in 1/32oz & 1/16oz, and both with #2 Aberdeen hooks.
(Note- not shown in the picture above is that there are several different colors of weedguards and jig hooks available. You just have to tell Grousefly [Paul Mullins] what you want in that regard, and he'll let you know if he can do it.)

Thanks for the reply to all. I think I like the center fiber weed guard the best. Which weight seems to be the most productive fishing 10-12’ deep. I think I will be working that depth the most.

I like 1/16oz for most all depths (up to ~25') when casting jigs. For less than 8' deep & no brushpile or blowdown I tend to use a 1/16oz Road Runner ... and even occasionally use them to fish "over top" or "outside" of that type of wood cover.
The main occasion I may downsize to a 1/32oz is when shooting docks (with <10fow under them or I need a slower fall rate).
Thanks johnboy1 thanked you for this post

These jigs are 1/16 oz with # 2 sickle hooks both weedless and non weedless

I use a lot of weedless jigs and by far I think the best I've ever used are the one with the fiber brush guards. For depths up to 12 fow I like a 1/16 oz and if I'm in water under 6' I may go to a 1/32 oz. I like to paint some of mine but honestly I think the color is more for me than the fish.

I've bought some jigs from Grousefly and he does make some good head but I will warn you his delivery can be very slow. One order I gave him took almost 4 months and a friend of mine order took a similar time. After delivery my friend gave him a 2nd order...these took almost a year to get. My friend actually forgot about them until Grousefly notified him his jigs were ready and sked if he still wanted them.

For me, I go to eBay any more and get mine. I always find what I need and have them in a week or less.

I'm not trying to knock Grousefly, his jigs are good. If you are wanting your order quickly I would confirm his delivery time before I would gave him the order. For me...I'll just go to eBay.

Crappiemax is correct ... Grousefly does his orders "First come, first served" and he does baits for more than just the Crappie angling crowd. He does offer a discount for orders of 100 jigs (or more) by Crappie.com members, so be sure he knows you are a member (esp if you call him or email him).

He stays very busy with the orders, and is subject to some health matters that have been known to slow production occasionally.
