    Default Wanting try green Sunday

Weather permitting wanting try spider rigging jigs at green. I have never fished green in the winter. Any hints on where to start fishing and depths. Usually fish around state park area but willing try Holmes bend. Just don’t know where to start. Thanks.

I'm not the best one to reply but here's my thoughts. Find the right depth at Green and you'll catch fish. We'll catch fish from the dam up into Robinson creek and green river arm. The fish are there and once you find a little cover at the depth of the day they will be biting. Might take a little bit to find that depth. But once you do...

Watch this and pay attention to how shallow the lines are & notice the area (either side of the bridge) and you'll get a good idea of how to fish Green in Winter (in that area) : YouTube

Thanks to t.slabseeker for a very informative video

What makes that area one of the better areas of the lake?

IMHO ... the brushpiles, the river channel edge, the creek's stump beds and channel edges, and the fact that they spawn there (Spring) and follow Shad up there (Fall).

It could also be that those that report on their trips & fish there constantly, know that area of the lake very well from years of fishing it.

Most of my early years of fishing at Green were done between the State Campground & Emerald Isle Marina. I'm still learning the Holmes Bend to Casey Creek area, but it's slow going when you only get to fish there a few times a year. I'm hoping that next year I'll go there more, and now that I have a map chip in my Hook 7 I'm hoping that helps me learn the lay of the land of that part of the lake. That, and less spot casting & more jig Pushing
