    Default Taylorsville lake

know it’s still 14’ above pool but does anyone know if it has cleared up? Hoping to try my luck crappie fishing but not sure if the dropping water will killl the bite? Anyone tried lately or have experience fishing when they’re pulling over 2000 cfs? Thanks!

I have no experience under those conditions, but I have my doubts as to the current situation at Taylorsville being conducive to much chance of a productive trip. But then I haven't been real "productive" at Taylorsville this past year, under much better conditions.

Taylorsville was at that same level back in early April and launching was pretty much limited to the Possum Ridge ramp, and even it was "iffy" on account of trash/debris clogging it. I went shortly afterwards and when the water had receded several feet, and attempted to launch at Settler's ... but, turned around and went to Possum Ridge because of the heavy debris field covering the launch ramp at Settler's. Wind direction plays a big part in which banks the logs/limbs/debris will settle on.

The fact that we haven't had anyone reporting on trips to Taylorsville in the past couple of weeks is evidence enough for me to consider other waters. Even with them pulling the lake at that rate, it will take them til the end of the month to get it back down to Winter Pool ... and the current weather forecast for the last week of the month, though the temps are to be in the 50's, is showing 40-50% chances of rain in that area.

Thanks for the welcome and the info crappiepappy! I figured it would be rough out there and I may wait it out or try and find time to go somewhere else.
I have had fun though catching hybrids and white bass in the flooded parking lot of settlers trace before so maybe I’ll give it a try. I’ll report back if I get out.
    Thanks

Yeah, I've heard about the "Parking Lot Hybrids" deal (just never tried it). And I know what you mean about "finding time to go somewhere else" ... because it's a 1.5hr drive to Taylorsville, Cave Run, or parts of Cumberland, and a 2hr drive to Green and certain other parts of Cumberland for me.

    Welcome to the board Fishfever11!!!
And do as you will, but I won't crappie fish Taylorsville with the water dropping like they are pulling it now. That's just me because I don't generally do well under those conditions. Others may have completely opposite results, only speaking for myself. Hope you get out and catch something. Those Hybrids can be a blast!

    Take care,
    Greenfish

welcome Fishfever11. Have you ever tried Guist Creek in Shelbyville?? It's a small, about 300 acres, lake that's been known for redear crappie gills and BASS.

Thanks for the welcome and the replies! Looks like it may be awhile before I get out with more rain on the way 😌.
I have fished Guist a few times for bass but never crappie. Ive been wanting to try for some Saugeye there since they’ve been stocked. I’ve caught several at tville while crappie fishing and would love to get a few more 😁. Will report back if I make it 👍

Buddy ... at 13.5ft over Summer Pool, I'd say Possum Ridge would be your only choice, and it would be a "maybe" at best. You might call the marina and see if they know (if they're even still open)
