Default Pulling wind sock behind boat

Have seen this a couple of times on video as they were pulling baits behind a running boat. Seems to work great

What does the sock do? Stir up the water? What

Called a drift sock, slows boat speed...
Tie an old tube sock to the steering wheel when using, reminder to pull drift sock in before moving, easy to forget!!
