thats ugly i need to go fishing this stuff needs to end
Thanks for sharing.
It is what it is!
The thing about it is, they are doing what that lake is designed to do. The mayor of Shepardsville just caught a 50 lbs. blue in his front yard. If they let Taylorsville roll he may not have a front yard left.

any recent pix also how do u get to that spillway
would that spillway be a good place for sauger
You get to the spillway by going on the road that crosses the dam ... 2239 which runs between 55 & 44 ... and turn off on COE Tailwater Rd. (Google Maps or Mapquest will show you the way)
As far as it being a good place for sauger .... ... never caught any there, but I have only fished it a few times. I do know that the Asian Carp are there at times, as I've rolled a few over with my Road Runner ... and a friend of mine actually caught and landed one. Most people I see fishing there are fishing for Catfish or Crappie.
There are sauger naturally occurring below the dam since there aren’t any dams between Taylorsville and the Ohio. The state stocked thousands in there up until 2014 or so as part of a long-term study. We would occasionally catch them around Shepherdsville growing up on minnow-tipped jigs fishing the riffles in the cooler months so they’ve always been there to some degree. The issue is that they’re not a very dense population in the Salt River so the catch rate has never been real high. Keep in mind that KDFWR also stocks 3,000 hatchery rainbow trout four months out of the year below the dam to add another opportunity.
thanks guys only ask because i accidently caught one by settlers trace and i have heard they are very good eating
You probably caught a saugeye that have been stocked. Should be getting keeper sized by now. Caught a ton long lining last year just under the slot.

Where does it say there's a slot limit on Saugeye at T-ville ?? There's no mention of it in the Fishing/Boating Guide or on the 2017 Fishing Forecast list. All the 2017 Forecast list said was the Saugeye fishing was "Fair" & Two years of stocking have been completed. Harvestable size saugeye are present.Low numbers because it is a newer fishery.
Statewide limit on Saugeye is 6/person/day - no size limit
