Default Irvin Cobb resort, Blood River, Ky Lake

To all, just need to know if any of you have stayed at any of the cabins at Irvin Cobb on Blood River, KY Lake.. I would like to make a trip there in late April/early May for some fishing. Went there last year in the Blood River area, but stayed at a home nearby and not at Irvin Cobb. The home is not available this year. It would just me and my Brother at the cabin. Any feedback would be appreciated.

You might give these folks a call: They are the new owners of the former Kentucky Beach Resort on Blood RIver.

Irvin Cobb does have cabins. Im sure they are fine. Its an older Marina as are the cabins. There are several places to stay in Aurora. I think you could put them all in a hat and draw one out and be ok. None will be the Ritz Carlton and none will be a homeless shelter. If you want to fish mostly in blood river then Irvin Cobb is as good a choice as any. If you want to fish Jonathan Creek then I would go to Sportsman’s for convenience. The main thing is be safe and have a good time. Maybe we will see you on the lake. I hope the info I’ve given helps.
If you were on trial for being a Christian would there be enough evidence to convict you??

I stayed at the cabins there a few years back and they were fine. Typical fishing rentals that were clean and suited our needs. The people were good to deal with as well. They aren't operated by the same people that operate the ramp and marina.

Tubejig, KFC, thanks for the information. I was there at the ramp last year at least 3 times in the spring(May), but did not have time to check out the cabins/trailers. We fished a bunch of small bays of the creek/river in the back ends for Bluegill and had a lot of fun. (man, they have a pile of stake beds in there, but we had no luck on them). The cabins/trailers from the outside looked OK to me and I'm not expecting more than a decent place to sleep, shower, shave, and get out to fishing each day without having to trailer a long distance. If they have cooking facilities in the cabins (which I think they do), fine. I usually only fix breakfast and some sandwiches for lunch on the boat and we go out to eat at night after hopefully cleaning some fish. I talked with the dock/ramp owner when I was there and he seemed to be OK and allowed us to fish off his dock one day when the winds were up in the 20-30mph range. ( I hate sitting doing no fishing after driving a pile of miles to fish due to weather). So, Man, I think we caught 200 yellow bass at the fish cleaning station. We kept a few of the bigger ones, but this helped us do something on a day I knew I didn't want to get on the lake with my 16Ft aluminum and the wind. Fyi, I'm traveling from Georgetown KY for the trip, so hope to spend at least 5-7 days there knowing there will be some days the weather will keep me off the lake.

The new owner at the ramp "Tom" is his name is a great guy couldn't be any better and I'm pretty sure he told me his brother owned the cabins but not positive.

They’ve made some great improvements to the docs at the Cobb. Tom is a great guy. I’ve never been in the cabins but I would say they do a good job of keeping them up. Also Lynhurst resort is under new ownership this year and they are making improvements down there as well.

If you are going in April you should go ahead and get reservations. Rooms and cabins can be hard to come by in the spring.
