    Default KY Lake 9/02

After the Lowes truck delivered a defective dishwasher to my house this morning and dealing with the store discovering that there's a two week lead time before they get another one in-I had to get on the water before I blew a head gasket. I took along my brother-in-law and father-in-law who were in town visiting. One had never trolled with me before so I was glad that I was able to put him onto some fish.

The wind made it difficult to stay on top of fish but we did end up putting together a small multi-species grab bag of fillets for them to take home to southeast KY. We called it a day after a little over three hours on the water as the wind had shifted to WNW and picked up a bit after 3:30. The ride back was a wet one between the rollers and the Labor Day cigarette boat wakes. The bite was better earlier in the week but any day on the water beats installing a new dishwasher at the house.

Looks like some nice crappie Adam comparing them to that 15" green carp.

I had issues with Lowes on a dishwasher a couple of years ago. Vicki and I went to Lowes and bought one to take home and install myself to replace our old one. How hard can it be? I've done it a couple of times before. I asked what they charged for their plumber to do it? $75!! No thanks.

We got it home and I started trying to squeeze my big butt into a door under our corner cabinet, that was many sizes too small, where the pvc piping and shut-offs were located. Since I couldn't fit and my arms were about 6 inches too short, I managed to snap off the pvc line to the hot water. I about drowned before I could get out from under the sink to run to the whole-house shut off. I called and left a message with our plumber/friend. He was going to be in the neighborhood the next morning and would swing by.

He and his much-smaller sized son got there and had it fixed in 5 minutes. I told him I had turned down the offer from Lowes for their plumber to install it. The 2 of them started laughing and asked who did I think would have done the work for Lowes? The 2 guys standing in my kitchen.

    BTW, the bill??

$75-------------------I kid you not!!! Of course the issue was not the dishwasher or Lowes, it was the cheapskate typing this. Vicki said the next time I got that bright idea, she would just write them a check herself.

Returning that stupid thing cost us to be two hours late fishing this morning but I got her all buttoned up after about 75 minutes of piecing and parting together. I have to cut and rewire the electric cord tomorrow because the one on it has a right angle plug and that won't work due to the brain trust that built our house. I need to rewire it as a straight plug to make it fit.

    Mission accomplished
