Don't go down the Licking river! I fish cave run a lot and I can't remember where all the stick ups are, and they're no navigation markers. Save your boat, and your time. The main lake has enough, eq: pappy pointing you in the right direction. Mark and go to fish attractor. The flats are great if no traffic. Go south to leatherwood if you don't want to be around heavy traffic. Submerged timbers are marked better. Good luck and use the website.
My success in life is measured by the number of fishing stories that my family can share with others.
Thanks for the response guys. Water temp was in low 80's lots of small fish caught (50-60) with only 8 or so keeper size all were found in 20 fow on bottom we had a great time at zilpo campground and yes the lake gets busy when its hot like it was this weekend Stayed out of the river and looked around leatherwood and longbow. all were released

No didn't plan on keeping any either way so didn't bother to look at regs. however keeper size is 10 inch for me personally. Sure were plenty under that this past saturday. Thanks again.

No problem !! Did any of the links I gave you help you out ?? And if you don't mind my asking : how did you fish and did you fish any of the KDFWR habitat drops (brushpiles/reefs) ??
I don't fish Cave Run very often, nowadays, but I ask because when I do go I would like to have confirmation that the habitat is working & holding fish. I'm going to have to start making 10" MY size limit, next year, on Taylorsville Lake ... because the law has been changed. I wish it had been changed on Green River Lake, as well, but the KDFWR only changed the creel limit from 30 to 20/day down there (actually they changed the "statewide" creel to 20/day ... but that only affects lakes that don't have a smaller creel law already in place, like Taylorsville Lake - creel limit is 15/day).
Yes I printed the map links . toured areas of the lake Friday eve with SI and marked a few spots to try on Saturday. Actually the best area was in Beaver creek not on any maps. Marla and I fished one rod each double rigged with a one ounce weight in at that spot was 22 feet with MINNERS (meat in the heat). focused mainly on deep water.
