    Default Cranking blood river 7/24

had a not so productive day at blood river yesterday. the last time I fished, I felt like we did better as we shortened our depth and caught 2 really nice crappie along with several shorts so I was hopeful to build on that pattern. Started fishing about 7 oclock and fished until about 1130. We ended up with one keeper that just barely crossed the 10" line. we had 4 or 5 dinks we threw back and 2 cats along with the usual yellow bass mixed in. Couldn't make a depth or a color pattern as we caught them on colors ranging from pink and orange, chrome, to the ugliest Kentucky blue you can imagine. Did see several dreaded Asian carp jumping behind the terrova turbulence. Hopefully it had something to do with the draw down of the lake over the last few days but I cant be too sure. I just have to keep on trying and hope to get areas down that I know hold fish over these hot summer months.

Did you find any baitballs? How deep? How deep did you try to run your cranks thru the baitballs? Right now if the bait isn't there , you are wasting your time.

Mrdux, I found a few but they are small but they were at the 8-12 range and mostly in 16-22 fow. And again, Im seeing the Asian carp a few places im fishing. I haven't left the blood river area but would you think I should get out toward the river and scan close to the secondaries on the main lake initially instead of trying to only stay in BR?

We had zero current on Barkley and KY Monday morning. I was on Barkley and checked the generator discharge at both dams as I headed home. The secondary channels aren't going to be much better with no current.
