    Default Kudos to Amartinbio

You have no idea how much I appreciate your willingness to come on here, listen to our issues, and answer to the best of your abilities by using biological data as much as possible. I try not to make my concerns be those of my pocketbook but for the resources as a whole. I don't often get the answer I seek but do get honest info that may or may not satisfy my concerns but at least you are willing to take the arrows we throw and try to calm our fears. For that I'm thankful.

Thanks for the kind words. Paul and I don't usually check these forums very often, but it's a great way to hear about the current issues with the fishery. I can't say that I'll always give the right answer, but it will always be honest. My hope is that the relationship between biologists and anglers is never adversarial.

I have had discussions with Paul about this subject in the past. I have been crappie fishinh for better part of over 30 years, so my passion tends to come out and sometime overtake my common sense. I have and always will respect the f & w officers and agents. I believe sportsman can be some of the toughest customers to please!
But, from my point of view and maybe a few others, there are things that we see as sportsman that data and field studies may not see. And sometimes these things fall on deaf ears.
I'm not a scientist, and respect your knowledge and input that Paul and yourself bring to our region. Just remember that we all are a little spoiled with the resource that we are blessed with. So, with that said we are all on the same team, and need to listen to one another and continue to build on our team work! And eradicate the CARP!! LOL

Haha, I definitely agree that more teamwork is needed. Too often we as biologists only discuss things with other biologists, and anglers only discuss things with other anglers. As a result we often reinforce our biases by staying in our own small circles. We are currently exploring options to allow us to be more interactive with anglers online (Asian carp will be a major part of this). I can assure you that we are always willing to listen, and that I never take any of the criticisms personally. I am glad people are passionate about these lakes.
