We had good luck with small Popeyes tipped with a wax worm, fishing old road beds and pea gravel banks. That was over a month ago though.
We are going to be around Camp Energy this weekend and I would like to try out luck at the red ear. Can anyone give me any tips on what bait, hook, and anything else would be helpful!!! Thanks

Keep on keepin on!!!
They've transitioned back to deep water. If you can find underwater humps in the mouths of creek channels and the main river channel, you might catch a few.
I'm a redear fanatic and I've had trouble catching them outside of April and May...which I think is odd. There should be a fall run on redear, they're known to feed vigorously in Oct-Nov. I did talk to a guy that caught some 13 inch redear last October down at Prizer Point.
Interesting, redearhoosier. A friend of mine just told me day before yesterday that he caught over 100 redear off his dock during the month of October last year. He lives on Barkley, in the bay next to the one where Prizer Point is located. He mentioned that several of them were huge. He has pictures, though I've not seen them...but he is a person who is very truthful and I have no reason "not" to believe him.

I've caught tons of redear in October/November when I fished lakes in Southern Indiana. I could routinely find them on 15ft flats right on bottom feeding up for the winter months.
I saw a Tennessee Game and Fish article that stated November is a very good redear month on Ky Lake. It was like a monthly graph that forecasted specific species for each month and redear were forecasted for the month of November at KY lake.
