Default portable transducer idea for small boats

I use different trolling motors depending on the aluminum boat I choose and don't want to have to change transducer mounts from tm to tm or mount it permanently on a transom. So, I came up with this idea:

I use non-slip tape on the clamp and bent bracket (Xmas wreath holder Al).

Note: the transducer is supposed to be 1' below the water line, but I keep it even with the bottom of the boat so as to not hit the bottom in shallow water.

I took an old/broken TM and cut the wire and motor foot off it. Have transducer on that.

They make a suction cup device for that purpose, just sticks on the transome.

Tried it and as the cup material aged after a year in the sun, no no more suction.

Great idea. It can be frustrating trying to move and adapt gear from one boat to another. None of them have the same angle or wall thickness of gunwhale.

About 30 years ago, before I got my bass boat, I used to rent boats at multiple lakes and none were the same. I got a portable transducer bracket from BPS, which works great. I used it with electric motor powered boats only, so I'm not sure how it would do with more powerful motors. It worked great, though fish tried to wrap line in it before I got used to it being there.

    Jim
