Just bought my second pedal kayak Friday. Got a Native Slayer and I think it will be an awesome addition to my family.

I have hauled kayaks with a Toyota Corolla in the past.

Things to consider - how old/tall/strong/fit are you compared to the weight of a kayak. They are quite a bit heavier after a long day of fighting the wind. I’ve found I’m not quite as young as I was 20 years ago when I started kayaking. A neck surgery and a shoulder replacement makes me glad I have a pickup to haul my kayaks. They make little trailers that you could pull behind a kayak.

My favorite boat is one of those single person pontoon boats. Mine is like fishing from an Easy Boy recliner. I dumped the oars, and move about using scuba flippers. Boat control is much easier, and I can troll easier than with a no peddle drive Kayak.

If I had to buy one today I would get a Native FX 12 for a sit inside ride or an Old Town Predator MX for a sit-on-top.

The FX 12 is my dream yak. Had one ordered and had some health things come up and wasn’t able to get it. But I will have one before too long.

The FX12 is a good canoe/kayak hybrid, much like the Ascend F12 (?) from Bass Pro. You may want to put a riser under the seat for a little elevation.

    Good luck and tight lines!
